2,500 cars spanning over 120 years of motoring - from Vintage to Modern Classics.
As a motoring enthusiast, there is nowhere else in the UK to see such a diverse display of around 2,500 cars and have every passion catered for than the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery. From traditional British classics, vintage motors, historic motorsport, European exotica, American muscle, retro hot hatches or the classic motors of the future – all these types of vehicles are brought together for the classic motoring community’s season finale at Birmingham’s NEC.
From the earliest cars powered by steam and started by a crank lever, the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery, took visitors on a motoring journey, starting right at the very beginning with the pioneers of engineering. Vehicles from before the turn of the 20th century lead visitors into the stunning cars from the 1920s and 30s in the form of the Rolls-Royce, Alvis, Ford, and Jowett.
Motoring developments from the 1940s through to the swinging 60s were showcased as well as those advancements which took vehicles into historic motorsport and the excitement of the circuit with the like of Sir Stirling Moss at the wheel. The 70s saw the disco era of the Capri and the increase of horsepower – and we don’t just mean the Mustang!
With the 1980s bringing the ‘hot hatch’ years and the rise of the Supercar where designs were sleeker and sporty and price tags rocketed, we brought motoring stories right up to date with the latest cars considered to be modern classics as well as those that could be added to that list in the future, even including the brand new TVR Griffith. These vehicles may not be rare on our roads just yet, but this doesn’t make them any less pleasing to the eye.
Be your interest in what’s going on under the bonnet or you just like to look at the cars and imagine hitting the opening road, one thing is for sure – the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery, is the ultimate motoring day out and not an event to be missed!
