CAR CLUBS

Car ClubThis show is regarded by many clubs

as their “end of season finale”.

It’s probably the last time many of their classic cars will leave the garage

until the spring next year.

Car clubs exhibit at The Classic Motor Show to promote their club/marques, to secure new members, to sell club regalia and simply because it’s a great opportunity to meet friends old and new, while showing off some spectacular cars!

If you are looking to buy a classic then, before you do, it is well worth talking to the club specific to your car of choice for advice. Most clubs also benefit from discount parts and insurance schemes for their members and have regular events and social scenes of their own.

With around 170 clubs exhibiting, The Classic Motor Show is THE place to find and join the club for you!

Classic Bikes

New for 2008 - a hall dedicated to rare and amazing classic bikes.

This year’s Classic Motor Show, held from the 14th to 16th November at Birmingham’s NEC, is expanding its interest in classic motorcycles with a brand new area dedicated to bike and scooters dating from pre-war to 80s modern classics. The Pavilion, situated next to the Classic Motor Show halls, will feature classic motorcycle clubs, displays of rare and unusual bikes, a seminar area, motorcycle traders and a ‘Bikejumble’ for people looking for that elusive part.

Classic BikesShow Manager Andy Rouse explains: “For the past few years we have encouraged more classic motorcycle clubs to apply for the free space that we allocate at each show. As the interest in classic bikes has grown, so has the space allocated so it’s a natural progression that we dedicate an entire hall so that enthusiasts can see even more rare and amazing motorcycles along with the exquisite cars that we always feature.

“The Pavilion has a direct link into the main show halls and entrance will be included in the ticket price, giving visitors even more value for money. With 5,000 square metres to fill, we are welcoming applications from classic motorcycle and scooter clubs for space within this area and have up to 50 slots available. If successful, each club will receive a carpeted space, free of charge, along with two entry passes for the owners of each bike displayed per day and an exclusive ticket deal for its members giving them the best discount on tickets prices.”

Classic BikesDemand for the free space is expected to be high as this is a great opportunity for clubs to increase their membership and raise awareness of their chosen marque so clubs are advised to contact the organisers for an application form as soon as possible. Spaces have already been allocated to those clubs who have attended with impressive displays at the show such as the BSA, BSA Bantam, Vincent and Triumph Motorcycle Owners Clubs.

Bryan Price of the BSA Bantam Owners Club, said: “The expansion will particularly good for our club as our motorcycles were the vehicles that generations learnt to ride on. We have always received a very warm reception from Classic Motor Show visitors and have signed up new members because of it. Investing in a classic motorcycle is an inexpensive way of owning a classic vehicle and with a Bantam, all you need is a set of spanners, a screwdriver and a sense of adventure.” His enthusiasm was reiterated by David Measure of the Triumph Owners Motorcycle Club. David added: “This year, we are celebrating Triumph’s 60th anniversary as well as the 50th year of the Bonneville and 40th of the Trident. The new hall is a welcome progression and we are delighted to be involved in 2008.”

DREAM RIDES

Don't just dream about it - do it!

There is no other major exhibition in the UK that offers this incredible opportunity - for every visitor to have a ride in their 'dream car'.

In exchange for a donation to charity, you can take a ten-mile ride as a passenger in one of the cars available, picking up and dropping off inside the show. Details of the cars available will be available closer to the show.

Dream Rides

Last year we had around 60 cars per day ranging from Vintage tourers, classic British Sports Cars right through to today’s latest supercars (even an Audi R8 turned up hot off the production line!) Cobras, Ferraris, Maseratis, Porsches, GT40’s, Jags, MG’s, TR’s, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins and more should, once again, be available to take you out for your very own Dream Ride. Check back for details.
Dream Rides is wholly operated by The Sporting Bears Motor Club. This is a charitable organisation supporting UK Children’s Charities. All monies received in donations for Dream Rides goes to the nominated charities. Not a single penny raised is taken out by either the Sporting Bears Motor Club or the Classic Motor Show.
In recent years the Sporting Bears Dream Rides feature at the show has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for some extremely good causes. Let’s go for a new record in 2008! If you want to take a Dream Ride then please get there early and book up as they tend to get sold out quickly.

WHEELER DEALER LIVESTAGE

Mike Interview the owner of the Life on Mars Car

TV presenter Mike Brewer (Pulling Power, Driven, British Rally Championship, Wheeler Dealers, Autotrader, regular columnist in Autoexpress and Esquire Magazine) heads up a live and interactive stage show bringing magazine style features to life, Q&A sessions, cars, seminars and, not forgetting good old FUN! Check out what Mike’s up to today at wheelerdealer.com

Book Your Ticket Now!This year, Mike is joined once again by his favourite (and over worked) mechanic Edd China.

When he’s not in the garage, Edd creates extraordinary and wacky vehicles and holds the Guinness World Record for ‘fastest furniture’ for a driving a sofa at an amazing 87mph!

Check out Edd’s website cummfybanana.com and see some of his amazing automotive creations!

Last year, live at the show, Edd pulled off the amazing feat of renovating a car every day! They started out as very much “bargain buys” courtesy, naturally, of one Mr Mike Brewer and the transformation that Edd made to them by the end of each day (aided by the crack team and great car care products from Meguiar’s - who usually had just half an hour at the tail end of the day to work their magic inside and out) was utterly astonishing.

Wheeeler dealer LiveAfter all that work, we just gave the cars away, free. Yes, at the end of each day one lucky visitor won the car, fully road legal and insured by Footman James!

We’re trying to persuade Edd to do it all again in 2008. Watch this space!
