The Enfield 8000 Register was established to enable communication and collaboration between owners and others interested in Enfield 8000 electric cars.
The Register aims to preserve, and make freely available, information and historical documents relating to the Enfield 8000 electric car which was designed and conceived on the Isle of Wight. After a labour dispute, production transferred to Syros from 1974 to 1976. Considered by many to be the first modern day commercially available production electric car, the Enfield 8000 was a bold attempt to make a proper, useable car when batteries were still rather heavy and old fashioned. Remarkably about 110 Enfield cars were made and sold both in the UK and abroad.
