Celebrating 70 Years of the 1954 Morris Oxford SII and Morris Cowley 1200
)
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the iconic 1954 Morris Oxford SII (Saloon and Traveller) and the Morris Cowley 1200. To commemorate this milestone, we’re showcasing three beautifully preserved examples from the model range:
- 1956 Morris Oxford SII Saloon – The first Morris to feature the 1500cc B-Series engine, setting a new standard in its class.
- 1955 Morris Oxford SII Traveller – A rare surviving example of the “woody” Traveller, known for its distinctive timber-framed bodywork.
- 1956 Morris Cowley 1200 – Unique as the only Morris model equipped with the 1200cc B-Series engine.
Visitors will also find engaging displays with historical insights on these classic vehicles and the club itself, which supports the 1948-1960 Morris and Wolseley models. The exhibit highlights key milestones, such as the introduction of the B-Series engine, the return of the Cowley name after a 30-year hiatus, and the Oxford's international legacy, with saloons produced under license in India by Hindustan Motors.
