Mini Cooper Register
)
Sixty-Five years since Mini was launched to the public and 60 years since Paddy Hopkirk won the Monte Carlo Rally in a Mini Cooper S in 1964. We will be having five cars on the stand including an exact replica of Paddy Hopkirk's illustrious icon. Paddy Hopkirk's own exact replica of his Monte Carlo winning Mini 33 EJB. Built by the late Graham McConnell using a 1071S built in exactly the same month as 33EJB to the original BMC works specification specially for Paddy. The car which is still owned by the Hopkirk family is now lovingly homed and maintained at Mini Sport, Padiham, Lancashire.
Also on the stand we will have Callum's 1990 Rover Mini Racing Green edition. Callum has just completed a nut and bolt rebuild of the now upgraded car which had been off the road for 17 years.
The three other cars are yet to be finalised but will represent the range of mini supported by the Mini Cooper Register. Paddy Hopkirk was one of Northern Irelands most successful sportsmen and along with the iconic Monte Carlo winning Mini Cooper S is well known to millions of people throughout the world. This surely deserves a place in the Hall of Fame! Paddy and his co-driver, Henry Liddon appeared on Sunday night at the London Palladium along with the original 33 EJB.
