Ro80 Club International – Celebrating Rotary Innovation

The Ro80 Club International will be showcasing three exceptional NSU Ro80s at this year’s show, each highlighting the model’s innovative design and engineering legacy.
-
1969 Early Model (David Exley) – One of only three early Ro80s currently on UK roads featuring the twin round headlights, as fitted to US and Australian models before 1970. This remarkably original car spent decades in storage in the Netherlands before being recommissioned and brought back to the UK. David owns several Ro80s, including one kept at his second home in Spain.
-
1973 Alaska Blue (Richard Duff) – After a long period in storage, this stunning car was purchased and recommissioned, receiving a high-quality repaint. A regular at northern shows, it has earned Richard several trophies, demonstrating its enduring appeal.
-
1974 Green Metallic (Andrew Norton) – Originally Colorado Red and fitted with a Ford V4 conversion, this car was fully restored by Andrew, who returned it to the original NSU rotary engine and painted it a period-correct BMW green metallic. This car exemplifies the dependability of the NSU rotary today and the care enthusiasts take to preserve originality.
The club will also feature a cutaway Ro80 engine and transmission, allowing visitors to explore the unique rotary drivetrain up close. This display is always a highlight, offering a fascinating insight into the engineering that makes the Ro80 such a celebrated classic.
The Ro80 Club International stand is the perfect place for enthusiasts and newcomers alike to appreciate the ingenuity and enduring charm of this remarkable rotary-engine car.
