The Classic Motor Show Hall of Fame – A Look Back at 2024's Legendary Inductees
)
The inaugural Classic Motor Show Hall of Fame in 2024 was a milestone moment in the history of our show, and what an incredible line-up of inductees we had. We gathered to celebrate the outstanding figures and cars that have shaped the classic motoring world, and trust us—these legends truly deserve the honour.
Let’s take a trip down memory lane and revisit the inductees who were recognised for their extraordinary contributions to the industry. And, just for good measure, we’ll throw in a cheeky little teaser for 2025. After all, the Hall of Fame has only just begun!
David Whale – Industry Ambassador
First up, we had David Whale, the man at the helm of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC) since 2013. Under his leadership, the FBHVC has become a cornerstone of the British classic car community, fighting to preserve our motoring heritage and ensuring that classic car owners are protected under the law.
David’s expertise and unwavering passion for historic vehicles made him the perfect recipient of the Industry Ambassador title. His tireless advocacy for legislation that safeguards our beloved cars, as well as his outreach to international organisations, has been instrumental in securing the future of Britain’s automotive legacy.
Mike Brewer – Community Ambassador
Next, we celebrated Mike Brewer, a name that’s synonymous with classic cars and restoration thanks to his long-running role as the host of Wheeler Dealers. Mike’s dedication to the world of classic motoring goes far beyond the TV screen. He’s known for his hands-on approach to car restoration, not just on-screen but off it too, and for sharing his knowledge with fans and fellow enthusiasts alike.
Mike’s commitment to supporting the classic car community and his charity work made him the perfect choice for the Community Ambassador award. From hosting live stages at events to raising money for good causes, Mike’s passion for the motoring world continues to inspire new generations of petrolheads.
Jowett Car Club – Motoring Club
Then we had the Jowett Car Club, founded in 1923, and now the world’s oldest one-make car club. This isn’t just a club, it’s a dedicated community of over 750 members worldwide, all united by a love for the rare and beautiful Jowett cars. With more than 2,000 surviving vehicles in the club’s care, they’ve played a pivotal role in preserving this unique marque.
Their extensive support for fellow classic car owners through technical advice, restoration services, and dedicated events is second to none. Their contribution to events like the Classic Motor Show and NEC Restoration Show has earned them multiple awards, including Club of the Year at the National Car Club Awards. Their ethos of helping others, regardless of marque, is truly inspiring and has earned them a well-deserved spot in the Hall of Fame as a Motoring Club.
Jaguar E-Type – Classic Car
Last but certainly not least, we inducted the Jaguar E-Type, a car that’s nothing short of a legend. Launched in 1961, the E-Type immediately became a symbol of speed, beauty, and innovation. Enzo Ferrari famously called it “the most beautiful car in the world,” and who could argue with him?
With its iconic sleek lines, groundbreaking performance, and groundbreaking features like disc brakes and independent rear suspension, the E-Type set new standards in the motoring world. But it wasn’t just about performance, it was a statement of style and sophistication, becoming an enduring symbol of 1960s British culture. From the racetrack to the silver screen, the Jaguar E-Type’s influence is still felt today, making it a worthy inductee into the Hall of Fame.
It returns for 2025!
We’re still riding high from the success of our 2024 Hall of Fame, but let’s not get too comfortable. The Classic Motor Show Hall of Fame is here to stay, and we can’t wait to see who will be inducted next.
For now, we raise our glasses to David Whale, Mike Brewer, the Jowett Car Club, and the Jaguar E-Type—our inaugural inductees. You’ve earned your place in the Hall of Fame, and we’re proud to have celebrated your legacy. Here's to continuing the tradition, making more motoring history, and keeping the classic car movement as exciting as ever!
