BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
Once again this year, the American Auto Club UK invited its members to apply to display a vehicle on its stand at the Classic Motor Show at the NEC in November. Several applications were received and after a difficult decision the two vehicles chosen were a 1958 coral pink Chevrolet Impala Convertible in immaculate condition and a 1978 black and gold Smokey and the Bandit tribute Trans Am which has undergone a full nut and bolt restoration and which together suitably fit this year’s Show Theme “Best of Both Worlds”
Key Differences
The 1958 Chevrolet Impala convertible and the 1978 Pontiac Trans Am represent distinct eras and design philosophies in American automotive history. The Impala is a classic example of 1950s style, representing the optimism and design-led focus of the late 1950s. A stylish full-size luxury cruiser featuring a long, low body and abundant chrome, while the Trans Am embodies the muscle car era of the 1970s with its aggressive styling ,powerful V8s, and embodies the performance-oriented muscle car ethos of the late 1970’s – with tighter suspension and large wheels, built for speed and handling . While both cars had V8 engines, the Trans Am was built with performance as a core priority, featuring enhanced suspension, powerful engines and iconic muscle car styling.
Thus – Best of Both Worlds.
