Cavalier and Chevette Anniversary Events
50 years ago the Vauxhall Cavalier and the Vauxhall Chevette were launched and manufactured in the UK, introducing a new range of small and family oriented vehicles. Subsequent years later after natural design progression and ultimate cessassation of production they are being celebrated during Anniversary Events this year.
Over a two-day weekend the Club will be attending at Crich Tramways Museum and the Great British Car Journey - who will also be celebrating an all-Luton Day (28th September) open to all enthusiasts of the marque.
The Cavalier in particular was built in Luton over several guises (Mk.1, Mk.2 and Mk.3) and it's replacement the Vectra 'B' was also built in Luton, coincidentally launched in 1995 thereby celebrating it's 30th Birthday this year and with production ending in 2002 this also marked the final car to be produced at the Luton factory.
The Cavalier and Chevette Club is proud to be able to exhibit on it's stand at the NEC Classic 7th - 9th November a variant of each model to show the Best of Both Worlds - whether it being a standard "old-school" factory-original version to a mildly-modified version to keep up with today's hectic pace of life, to also Vauxhall's version of "Best of Both" - sports models within the range.
Also celebrating on the stand is an original 1995 Vectra 'B', showing that the Best of the Modern World can still punch above it's weight in the Classic World despite it's 30th Birthday Anniversary!
