DLOC Celebrates 130 Years since 1st UK-built car
Lanchester Cars -1st to be built in the UK

The Daimler and Lanchester Owners' Club are delighted to be celebrating 130 years since the first British-built car emerged in 1985. This was a four-seat open car powered by an internal cumbustion-engine and built by the three Lanchester brothers.

Dr. Fredrick Lanchester, in particular, greatly influenced the mechanical design-evolution of cars throughout the last century, especially inventing many refinements to engine, brakes, transmission, steering and suspension systems. He eventually joined the Daimler Company as technical director and thereby ensured their success supplying reliable and efficient vehicles to the UK Royal Family and other heads of state throughout Europe and further afield.    Accordingly, the DLOC stand reflects many of those inovations in three outstanding Lanchester cars on their stand: the amazing 1904 20hp open tourer and the very attractive 1947 LD10 Abbott-bodied drop-head coupe - both loaned by the JDHT - and lastly the 1946  'Roadrider' six light saloon, cherished by a club-member

Additionally, the 'Best of Both Worlds' show-theme is reflected in the display of three outstanding Daimlers from more modern times: a 1961 SP250 sportscar, a beautiful 1983 Sovereign 4.2L and a stunning 1966 V8 2.5L Saloon.

Wishing all visitors to our stand - Hall 1 # 710, a wonderful weekend.
