From Heritage to Future: Commonwealth Car Club at Pride of Longbridge
The Commonwealth Car Club was proud to have a stand at this year’s Pride of Longbridge event, joining thousands of enthusiasts in celebrating the rich history of cars connected to the iconic Longbridge plant.
The Pride of Longbridge was first held in 2006, marking the first anniversary of the collapse of MG Rover in April 2005. What began as a small gathering of former workers and enthusiasts has since grown into one of the UK’s most important community motoring events. Every year, it brings together owners, fans, and families to pay tribute to the legacy of Longbridge-built vehicles, from Austins and Rovers to MGs and Minis.
This year also carried a moment of reflection as it marked 20 years since the collapse of MG Rover. Despite that difficult chapter, the spirit of Longbridge lives on through the cars, their owners, and the sense of pride that continues to drive the event forward.
Looking ahead, 2026 will mark 20 years of the Pride of Longbridge, and the Commonwealth Car Club is excited to confirm we will be there to celebrate this milestone. With our roots linked to heritage and community — from our beginnings at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games to now almost 7,000 members worldwide — being part of Pride of Longbridge is an important way for us to honour the history of British motoring and the people who keep it alive.
