Lotus Eclat 50th Anniversary
Returning home after 50 years

Following last years celebrations of 50 years since the Lotus Elite was released to market, this year the Lotus Grand Tourers stand puts a focus on the coupe variant, the Lotus Eclat, reaching the same milestone.

The Eclat, again styled by Oliver Winterbottom, was released in October 1975, offering a more conventional fast back coupe to run along side the Elite. Rear head room was marginally compromised but the coupe styling offered the Eclat a more usable boot space with slightly less radical looks than the Elite. Based largely on British sourced running gear, the Eclat used the 2000cc litre Lotus 907 engine. Production ran from 1975 to 1982 with total production reaching 1500 cars.

In 1982, the Eclat evolved into the Eclat Excel, now with Toyota running gear and the 912 Lotus 2200cc engine. Production ran for a further 10 years with final production across the 4 seater “wedge” range around 6250 cars.

Join members of the Lotus Grand Tourers Club on stand 3-345 where we have a beautifully original prise winning Eclat S1, a S2 Riviera special edition and a superb S1 restoration. Use promotion code CCCNOV5784 for a £4 discount on your day tickets.
