The VSCC’s Board of Directors gave serious consideration to the proposed charities for the Club to support and this year have decided that the Club should support two charities, one motoring and one non-motor related. The two charities selected are:
Spinal Track and Kidney Research UK.
The Club are excited to begin these new relationships, which will help their new charity partners raise awareness of their work alongside driving forward vital fundraising support.
Kidney Research UK’s Chief Executive, Sandra Currie, shares “We are extremely grateful to the Vintage Sports-Car Club for choosing Kidney Research UK. We’re looking forward to reaching more people who may not be aware of our work, and to increasing understanding of how important our kidneys are. This partnership is an important step towards transforming treatments, accelerating more exciting research and offering hope to the 7.2 million people living with kidney disease in the UK today.”
The Club have already begun liaising with Spinal Track advocates Nathalie McGloin and Andrew Baylis. “We are so excited and humbled to be the joint-charity of the year for VSCC. Giving disabled drivers their first opportunity to drive adapted track cars around Silverstone is something we created because nothing was available for people with disabilities. Being a disabled racing driver, I love how inclusive motorsport is for me and other disabled people. So many of our drivers also love vintage cars so we can’t wait for Spinal Track to become part of the VSCC community.” says Nathalie.
“Having grown up around vintage cars, I’ve always wanted a reason to become part of VSCC. Having had a desire to own and compete in a Chummy for a long time, the VSCC supporting our charity has given me the perfect excuse to put those wheels in motion! We very much look forward to showing the VSCC members how our disabled drivers drive modern cars with hand-controls whilst being surrounded by the awesome pre-war versions,” says Andrew.
Club Secretary Tania Brown concludes “We're thrilled to announce this partnership, as it reflects the Club's commitment not only to historic motorsport but also to meaningful causes. Over the past couple of years, our dedication has propelled us to the forefront of sustainability initiatives within the motorsport community. We now aim to channel that same passion and drive into supporting Kidney Research UK and Spinal Track. Our hope is to help these important organisations reach a broader audience and increase their exposure, creating a positive impact for those they serve.”
