The intent was to move a bonnet (nicknamed the Bumbling Bonnet) all the way from Lands End, to John O Groats, ideally via the most westerly & easterly points possible. The upper surface of the bumbling bonnet was divided into 20 equal sized sections, one for each club area of the country. As the bumbling bonnet passed through each location it was decorated with landmarks synonymous to that part of the country. The idea being that the bumbling bonnet would look like a patchwork quilt once finished. During the course of the bonnets travels it has been used as a raft, as a motorcycle windshield, tucked up in bed and even on the front of a steam engine!
