Cortina MK3 Club

Stand: 8-730

About the club
The Cortina MK3 Club was formed in 1992 with the aim of promoting an interest in the MK3 Cortina and to help members with servicing, technical queries, DVLA issues and valuations as well as helping to locate spare parts.

We welcome all members with an interest in the cars whether owners or not, and whether their cars are concourse winners, undergoing restorations, standard or modified.

Membership brings great benefits such as:
Access to the members section of the Cortina MK3 Club website with an interactive forum board,
Links to suppliers and other clubs as well as an active advice, parts for sale and wanted section.
Advice through the committee and other members on all aspects of ownership, modification and maintenance.
Public liability insurance when exhibiting at shows under the clubs name.
A free valuation facility for members cars for insurance or sale purposes.
Assistance with DVLA matters such as tax exemption and proof of model.
Discounted classic car insurance through our association with Heritage Classic Car Insurance.
The clubs magazine 'Coke Bottles' is produced four times a year. It contains forthcoming events, show reports, members articles, parts suppliers and cars/parts for sale as well as club merchandise.

National Gathering
Since 2000 the club has staged its own annual gathering, This is the time of year when the clubs awards are presented but there is far more to it than trophies. Its a great social occasion, a chance to get together with other members from all over the country and exchange stories and ideas, and as the event is moved around the country each year it means all members get the chance to attend. You do not even have to have a MK3 on the road. Just turn up and have a great time!

Club Regalia
The club keeps a variety of items in stock including mugs, grille badges, stickers and keyrings. Clothing available to order. Further information is available in the clubs magazine and also on the web page.

Remanufactured Parts
The club has engaged with a 3D printing company to enable some small parts unique to the Mk3 Cortina to be 3D printed and avaialble to members. We are also looking at some larger trim items such as parcel shelves being made available GRP. The club is continually looking at the viability of other items to be remanufactured for the benifit of club members.

2021 - Celebrating 51 Years of the Mk3 Cortina
The Mk3 Cortina was launched on the 9th October 1970 having been developed in the late 60's as Ford's third generation of the model with the aim of producing them in much higher volumes than before. It also followed a recent merger between ford of Britain and Ford of Germany into the modern day Ford of Europe. Code letters 'TC' were used standing fo Taunus Cortina. The intention was for the German Taunus and British Cortina to share the same platforms with only minor differences between the two. The outcome was that the two cars shared the same floorpan but the body panels and most of the trim were unique to the two models. The car was known internally in Ford as the 'TC' and it is this name that the model is more commonly reffered to in the likes of Australia.
Heavily marketed along the lines, there were six major models in four body styles. The choice of power plants and trim amounted to 35 choices for the 70's customer and notably the OHC 'Pinto' engine made its debut.
