The Unipower GT Owners Club & Register was started back in 1972 when membership as now, just required present or past ownership of a Unipower GT.
In the early days, Members would meet up once a month at a pub in Surrey, when typically, there would be around six cars with their Owners spending the afternoon chatting about their cars and exploits, some coming from afar afield as South Wales, which was a long journey in those days. These days the membership is scattered all over the world, with fewer cars now residing in the UK, many of which are in the process of being restored. This has meant that Club meetings are limited to Shows such as this.
Production of these very special sports cars ceased in early 1970, by which time just 73 cars had been built. Today, well over 75% of the original production are known of, scattered around the World and whose details are known to the Club's Register, maintained by regular contact with the ownership past and present.
The level of detail held by the Club of both built and surviving cars, is the most comprehensive anywhere, including but not limited to, present/past owner history and factory level specification details such as engine numbers/paint colours/original specifications & modifications etc... In addition to such verified information, the Club benefits from a wealth of practical knowledge and experience of these cars, gathered from its diverse ownership experiences.
As well as a very informative website for catering for both Members and Enthusiasts, the Club also has an ever-changing presence on Facebook and Instagram, and you are encouraged to visit these portals to learn more about these cars.
From its early days in the late 70’s of exhibiting at National Classic Car Shows, the Club continues its presence this year at the NEC Classic Motor Show in Hall 5 Stand 5-230. We look forward to meeting you there over the three days.
