2nd: 2002 Porsche Boxster S, Paul Clappison

When Paul decided to buy one of these brilliant Porsches he knew he wanted it to stand out from all of the others, and when he found this example in December of last year he achieved exactly that.
“It’s painted in Ocean Jade with a Nephrite Green leather interior and I knew straightway that it was the perfect car for me. To be honest I’ve had a lot of negative comments about the colour combination, but being so unique is what makes it special as far as I’m concerned, which is why I’d never sell it.”
The fact that it was originally registered close to where Paul was born was the icing on the cake, and he also really likes that it was ordered with plenty of desirable factory extras, including a sports exhaust. In fact, this particular colour wasn’t offered on the ‘S’ model, making this one even more special.
Lack of use meant that work was needed to bring it up to the standard you see here, including attention to the steering, an overhaul of the brakes and refurbishment of the wheels. A thorough service was required, too, but then it was ready to be enjoyed. Oh, and it’s been nicknamed ‘The Green Machine’ by its proud owner.
The fact that it won an award at a local classic car show reflects the time and effort invested by the owner, and while the colour scheme might divide opinion we are pretty sure that it will be winning awards for years to come.
Designed by Grant Larson and launched back in 1996, the Boxster proved hugely popular and is often credited with saving Porsche. The first generation ‘986’ model like this one was replaced in 2005 by the ‘987’.
