1961 Triumph Italia 2000 Coupe

The Triumph Italia is a rare and distinctive collaboration between British engineering and Italian styling. This is car 235 of just 329 examples built. This particular car began a full restoration in 2022, having spent over 30 years in storage since 1992.

Having previously restored another Italia in 2016, a great deal had been learned about these hand-built cars. Fortunately, this example was complete and retained all of its unique and often impossible-to-find original components. The aim was to return the car to concours condition while preserving as much of the original factory finish as possible. Apart from the standard Triumph running gear, virtually every component is bespoke to the Italia, making restoration a challenging but rewarding process.

The completed car made its debut at Salon Privé in September 2025, where it received an Honourable Mention in the Grand Touring class. Further success followed at the Triumph TR Concours, where it achieved 1st Place in the standard Italia class, losing just four points from a possible 785. The awards continued with 1st Place at a rain-soaked Coventry Motorfest Concours and a Masters Class victory at the TR Register Concours in Malvern.

As the custodian of two Triumph Italia’s, I feel incredibly privileged to own and preserve such rare vehicles. They are driven and displayed as often as possible, allowing others to enjoy and learn about these fascinating cars.

What I enjoy most about the Italia is the attention it attracts and the conversations it starts. People are often intrigued by its history, rarity and unique combination of Italian coachbuilding and Triumph engineering.
