Classic Motoring Enthusiasts Gear Up For NEC Season Finale
Classic motoring enthusiasts from all over the UK and beyond will be heading to Birmingham’s NEC from 10-12 November for the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show.

Not only is this event the season finale for the classic motoring community, but it is also the world’s biggest gathering of car clubs with 318 different vehicle clubs exhibiting at the three-day event.

Show Director Lee Masters said: “Contributing over £18 billion to the economy, the classic and heritage motor sector continues to grow at quite a pace. In the past five years, there has been a 48% rise in the number of historic vehicles which shows how much passion there is for older cars, bikes, vans and even tractors!

“The classic and historic vehicles sector also supports over 113,000 jobs. With so many skills at risk of disappearing, there are just 650 Apprenticeships giving young people opportunities and maintaining vital skills into the future.

“Our event brings every element of the classic community together - from the casual admirer to the passionate club member, the cottage industry to the motoring powerhouse. Visitors can admire, learn, experience and buy everything from a postcard to a Porsche!”

As well as 3,000 vehicles on display and 350 exhibitors, visitors can also vote for their favourite car in the Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership competition. Just 20 finalists have been selected from around 100 applicants, with each car and owner sharing their story in exchange for votes.

The Meguiar’s Club Showcase is also a competition with twelve cars that have all won either concours or ‘show and shine’ club events throughout the year being meticulously judged to determine who is the best of the best.

New for 2023 is the Meet the Experts Theatre, jam packed with discussion panels covering a whole host of topics affecting the classic motoring community. There are also interviews with Wheeler Dealers host Mike Brewer, Motorbike Trials legend Dougie Lampkin, and actors Katherine Kelly and Tony Pitts, who will be talking about their new film set in a classic car show.

In the Classic Motorbike Showcase, motorcycle and scooter clubs will surround the live Trial arena where twelve times World Champion Dougie Lampkin will be joined by his son Alfie to demonstrate their amazing skills.

The Sporting Bears Motor Club will be offering 10-mile ‘Dream Rides’ as a passenger in exchange for a charity donation, while HERO-ERA’s ‘arrive and drive a classic car experience’ allows you to get behind the wheel.

With Iconic Auctioneers holding a two-day sale on Saturday and Sunday with viewing of the many cars, motorcycles and automobilia on offer taking place on Friday, there’s plenty for everyone to enjoy.
