Morris Minors with Major Stories: Meet the Moggy Stars of the Classic Motor Show
)
At the Classic Motor Show, every car tells a story. But some tales are just a little more… Minor. This year, we’re shining the spotlight on a special line-up of Morris Minors on the Morris Minor Owners Club stand, and trust us, these aren’t your average Sunday cruisers.
Whether bought on impulse, passed down through generations, or swapped for a bottle of whisky (yes, really), these little legends have seen it all. Behind every smiling grille is an adventure, a hiccup, and a whole lot of heart. So buckle up, because these Moggies are full of surprises...
Alan’s 1962 Morris Minor 1000
Almond Green, 4-door – Reg: 108 UXE
"Impulse Buy Turned Love Story"
Alan wasn’t planning to buy a Morris Minor. But then this beautifully restored, Almond Green gem popped up, and that was that. Originally rebuilt by a dedicated owner who kept it for over 35 years, it came complete with a sunroof and just enough quirks to be charming. Alan’s since fitted safety upgrades like LED indicators and a sneaky alternator that doesn’t spoil the vintage vibe. It’s also a rare early “Dual Personality” model (half Series III, half Series V), which somehow landed him the role of co-registrar for the DP register. Classic car fate? We think so.
Jack’s 1962 Morris Minor
Smoke Grey, 2-door – Reg: AOT 405A
"The Family Favourite That Wouldn’t Behave"
Jack first spotted this car as a kid. Then it joined the family in 1997, and promptly started acting up. From wedding-day woes (it refused to start) to its fair share of welding sessions, this early Dual Personality Minor is a survivor in every sense. In fact, it's the earliest known DP Minor still on the road. Aside from a few safety-conscious upgrades (those indicators again!), it’s stayed largely original. These days, it’s behaving better… mostly.
Cam’s 1963 Morris Minor 1000
2-door – Reg: FMU 826B
"Gracie: The Everyday Hero"
Meet Gracie, bought in 2005 for the price of a bottle of whisky and still clocking miles like she’s got something to prove. Cam’s trusty 2-door has racked up over 260,000 miles doing everything from school runs to John o’Groats to Land’s End. She’s a bit of a mongrel (DP model with a Series III face and Series V heart) and yes, she’s scruffy. But Gracie’s still running strong, patched up with love and duct tape, and living proof that not every classic needs to be pampered to be cherished.
Mike’s 1964 Morris Minor 1000
Smoke Grey, 2-door – Reg: 357 EUO
"Mollie for Millie – A Love Story in Smoke Grey"
When Mike wanted to mark his partner Millie’s milestone birthday, he didn’t buy jewellery, he bought a Moggy. Mollie came with solid bones, plush leather seats, and an unfortunate patchwork paint job. A quick trip to the bodyshop revealed a rust-free stunner beneath, and with a little mechanical TLC (including electronic ignition), Mollie now runs like a dream. A proud Dual Personality Minor, she’s stylish, reliable, and only slightly let down by a clock that’s never on time. Much like most of us, really.
John’s 1963 Morris Minor Traveller – “Nellie”
Almond Green
"The Wallet-Testing Traveller"
Say hello to Nellie, the Traveller that’s taken John’s patience, and budget, for a ride. With five former keepers, a new set of woodwork, a less-than-factory-fresh Almond Green paint job, and an original engine that’s just about hanging in there, Nellie is a true character. She might rattle, roll, and startle bank accounts, but she’s loved all the same. Just don’t park her next to another Almond Green Minor unless you want an impromptu shade-off.
Five Moggies, Five Stories – One Classic Motor Show
This little line-up proves that owning a Morris Minor is rarely just about the car. It’s about family memories, DIY triumphs, last-minute roadside repairs and the kind of personality you only get with a truly lived-in classic.
So come and meet the Moggies at this year’s Classic Motor Show, and swap stories with the passionate owners who’ve restored, rescued, and road-tripped these cars into legend. You’ll laugh, you’ll learn… you might even fall in love.
